Liverpool’s first choice front six is something to be scared of

With only five games together this season, and four wins and a draw from those games, it’s clear to see why Jurgen Klopp has been criticised for lacking depth. The combination of Georgino Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana in midfield and Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho up-front was just too much for Spurs to handle.

Widely seen as Liverpool’s first choice midfield and attack, Wijnaldum stood out above and beyond the rest of his team-mates in excelling. Given more freedom to roam forward but remaining responsible defensively, the Dutchman showed the kind of impact that he has been lacking in recent weeks.

Roberto Firmino also returned to form, with his movement running rings around Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier at the heart of Tottenham’s defence. Creating space and causing chaos at the back for the away side, the Brazilian showed what he is capable of without even getting on the scoresheet.
