Perhaps not a moment that influenced the final result, but Son’s high, out-of-control lash on Firmino remains a talking point. With Liverpool breaking away, Son swung a leg high towards Firmino’s hip/thigh area in an attempt to stop the Liverpool attacker.

Although he didn’t make full contact, it was a reckless challenge and he did a receive a yellow, but should it have been more? Liverpool were on the break and the referee, Anthony Taylor, played advantage as Firmino rode the challenge. Had a red have been given, Liverpool, who were constantly on top of Spurs in the first half, may have gone on to score more in what would have been a more of a damaging result for the visitors.
