Simon Mignolet stepped up to deny Son Heung-Min when Liverpool needed him most

Although the performance from Liverpool was dominant, the London-side did have their chances. The most clear-cut came when Son Heung-Min found himself one-on-one with Simon Mignolet. With Liverpool leading 2-0, Son received the ball in the box after a clever pass from Ben Davies. Positioned to the left of the six-yard box, the player attempted to trick Mignolet, with a slight hesitation, and slip the ball through his legs with a left-footed strike.
The Belgian keeper matched it, however, and was able to close the space, and his legs, in order to block the shot. An important save from a shot that, if it went it, would have left Tottenham just one goal behind, creating a nervy end to the first half for Liverpool. A crucial save then and one that was important in the context of the final result, since Liverpool scored no goals for the remainder of the game.
