Three things we learnt from Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City

Jurgen Klopp was wrong to select Ragnar Klavan over Dejan Lovren

Few Liverpool fans would argue that Ragnar Klavan is a decent squad option, but he showed himself to be little more than that as he failed to handle the movement, runs and skill of the Manchester City front line.

Lovren is far from perfect at the heart of the Liverpool defence, but he at least has the quality and experience that is missing in Klavan’s game as he was caught on the wrong side of Sergio Aguero time and time again.

At the other end, John Stones deserves an honourable mention for what is most likely his best performance to date in a Manchester City shirt, cutting off Sadio Mane on the counter attack on more than one occasion.
