3) Mark Clattenburg continues to be the star of the show
Referee of the FA Cup final, Champions League final and Euro 2016 final, Clattenburg has often been criticised for making himself the centre of the attention. Once again today at the King Power, Clattenburg will be the man to hit the headlines, though not entirely through his own fault. With two big penalty calls for Leicester City, replays showed that whilst one was superb refereeing, another was completely the wrong call.
In the first half, Clattenburg correctly judged that Laurent Koscielny got a touch to the ball before taking out Danny Drinkwater as he rounded Petr Cech. In real time it looked a penalty, but replays showed that Koscielny did get a touch on the ball, and Clattenburg was vindicated by pundits and fans watching on television, if not the home support at the ground.
In the second half, Arsenal tried their luck again, this time Hector Bellerin bringing down Ahmed Musa as he weaved past him and into the penalty box. Clattenburg waved play on, but this time he was not correct. In the tangle of legs it was a clear penalty, which would have given the Foxes the lead if given and converted.
