2) Rob Holding may be the answer to Arsenal’s defensive crisis

With reports suggesting that a big money move for Shkodran Mustafi is stalling amid unexpected delays, Rob Holding maintained his place in the Arsenal central defence despite conceding four against Liverpool at the Emirates last weekend, this time with a more experienced partner in the form of Euro 2016 finalist Laurent Koscielny.

This time out however, Holding excelled. With a more experienced head next to him, Holding was more relaxed and composed on the ball. Whilst Leicester do not press in the same way that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool do, dealing with Jamie Vardy through the middle and Ahmed Musa and Riyad Mahrez out wide is no easy feat.

Holding won 83% of his aerial duels and made an impressive twelve clearances during the ninety minutes. With such stats and assured defending, it seems that Arsene Wenger has a short-term solution. Whilst Holding lacks the quality and experience to be first choice between now and Christmas, he has shown in this game that he is more than capable of providing cover, and has a bright future ahead of him.
