Hull are fighting for Marco Silva – but will it be enough?
Yes, United made a host of changes to their starting XI, which had been expected. But there was still an enormous amount of talent on the pitch for the visitors – including world-record signing Pogba – and they were made to look ordinary by a determined Hull side. The hosts themselves were without the injured Ryan Mason and star player Robert Snodgrass, who seems to be on his way out of Hull in a £10 million switch to West Ham United. Silva has also seen Jake Livermore depart to West Bromwich Albion in this transfer window. For a team fighting to stay in the Premier League, this upheaval is not ideal, but Silva has united the Tigers and provided hope that perhaps they can avoid the drop. Their form has certainly picked up since Silva was appointed and he will be heartened by their victory over United, albeit in a lost cause. They still face a huge battle, however, and selling their best players makes that task even more mountainous.
