Marco Silva celebrated his first Premier League victory as manager of Hull City after they overturned a lacklustre Bournemouth side at the KCOM Stadium. Two goals from Abel Hernandez turned the match in the Tigers’ favour after Junior Stanislas had given the visitors the lead from the penalty spot in the third minute. Embattled Hull, who had not won in the Premier League since November 6, netted a third shortly after the second-half restart courtesy of an own goal by Tyrone Mings and held out comfortable to claim a crucial three points. The victory has lifted them off bottom spot to 18th, while Bournemouth slipped to 11th following arguably their worst performance of the campaign. Here are three things we learnt from an entertaining encounter.
Boss Silva must keep hold of Snodgrass
Hull have already rebuffed two bids for their talisman from West Ham United this transfer window and are braced for more. According to reporters, the Tigers have slapped a £10 million price-tag on his head, while there are also rumours of big-money interest from the Chinese Super League. But if Hull are serious about avoiding relegation back to the Championship at the first attempt, then it is imperative Snodgrass is still their player come February 1. He has been in scintillating form in recent times and was at his best again at the KCOM Stadium. His dead-ball deliveries caused havoc in the Bournemouth penalty area and his touch and vision were superb, opening up the opposition and drawing fouls. Without the Scotland international, Hull’s position in the Premier League would be even more precarious and they would stand little chance of climbing out of the bottom three.
