Claudio Bravo isn’t performing at the level required
The pressure was always going to be on Claudio Bravo after he was chosen to replace fan’s favourite Joe Hart and he has not started well at all. He has looked susceptible from crosses and his shot-stopping hasn’t been good enough in the slightest. It is a positive that his distribution is as good as it is, but if he isn’t carrying out the tasks that any adept goalkeeper is able to, then his ability to pass out isn’t really worth it. Currently, the decision to replace Hart with Bravo is looking like a ludicrous one and the lack of confidence in the Chilean may be partly causing the defensive frailties that are haunting the side at the moment.
Against Everton, he was once again hapless and it is a growing concern that may need to be addressed sooner rather than later. At the moment, he doesn’t look like he is capable of making saves. Everton had only four shots on target against City on Sunday, but all four found the back of the net. Although they took their chances well, a better goalkeeper would have done better on at least two of the goals. City players obviously lack confidence in their goalkeeper and it is having a damaging effect.
