Eden Hazard is back to his irresistible best
Notwithstanding Chelsea’s team ethic, special praise is reserved for Hazard, who scored his 50th Premier League goal for Chelsea via the penalty spot. Is was just reward for a performance that earned him the man-of-the-match award. The Belgium international was at his irresistible best, creating havoc in the Cherries defence with his twisting runs and no shortage of flicks and tricks.
Simon Francis in particular, came in for a torrid time at Stamford Bridge, but he won’t be the only opposing defender to have been left flummoxed by Hazard. It makes his form last season even more vexing. Hazard was a shadow of himself under Mourinho and came in for heavy criticism from a section of the club’s supporters when the Portuguese lost his job a year ago.
Whatever the reason, Conte’s arrival has had the desired effect as he is now rejuvenated. If Hazard can maintain this rich vein of form for the rest of the campaign, Chelsea’s title train will take some derailing.
