The New Chelsea Look A Lot Like The Old Chelsea
This was a performance that brought back memories of a Chelsea that hasn’t been seen too often in the last 18 months; miserly at the back and efficient on the counter attack. This formula has usually been the recipe for success at Stamford Bridge over the last decade or so, from Mourinho’s first spell to their unlikely Champions League triumph of 2012. Conte is a progressive coach that wants his team to press and take the initiative, but he can also organise a back line to put up the barricades when needs be. The Blues were conceding chances on a regular basis early in the season, and were sliced upon with ease against Liverpool and Arsenal in September. Chelsea were never a team that attracted the affection of neutrals, but their fans will be pleased that they look frugal once again.
