Thiago is ready to make the next step in his career

The Spaniard has long been tipped for big things in the game and he could finally be ready to make the step up to become one of the world’s best players. He was a big favourite of Pep Guardiola, who took him from Barcelona to the Allianz Arena, but it could be Carlo Ancelotti that brings the best out of the midfielder. Thiago was chosen to play in the number ten role ahead of Thomas Muller and he certainly repaid the faith that was placed in him. He was at the centre of everything that was positive about Munich’s attacking play and contributed two goals and an assist.

His movement was superb, while his finishing stood out, as he scored from both of his attempted shots. Although his performance will be remembered for his brace, his overall contribution was superb. He ended the match with 93% pass accuracy from 89 attempted passes, two of which were key. Furthermore, he won three aerial duels and completed three ball retrievals. Thiago is an intelligent player, who linked up the midfield and attack superbly. At the age of 25, he could now be ready to make the step up and become one of the best players in the world.
