Three things we learnt from a rampant Liverpool victory over Watford

Nordin Amrabat isn’t too keen on defending

Nordin Amrabat’s record of this fixture may not look too bad given that he was the one to set up Daryl Janmaat to score a consolation goal and earn him an assist, but the fair reflection of his individual performance would be the appalling defending which cost his side the tie as Liverpool put themselves out of sight.

The Dutchman defended woefully to concede a corner, from which Phillipe Coutinho would set up Sadio Mane whilst Amrabat watched on from deeper in the box. That opened the floodgates and the 29-year-old looked increasingly disinterested in tracking back and following his men.

There was no better illustation of that than when he watched Emre Can burst past him and head home to make it 3-0 before half time, with little effort on his part to follow the German. Walter Mazzarri does not suffer fools gladly and Amrabat will do well to avoid being so lazy with his defending again in future.
