Mauricio Pochettino will continue giving young players a chance

After four successive draws, the pressure was on Tottenham to return to winning ways and they managed to do so eventually, even if it did take two late goals. The situation would have forced most managers to play their more experienced players, but Pochettino opted to give Harry Winks his first Premier League start. He needs to be commended for his faith in young players as it is exactly what we want from Premier League managers.

Winks repaid his manager with the first Tottenham goal and was one of the side’s better performers on the day. He was always looking forward and played positive passes, rather than trying to hide on the pitch, even when his side was behind. There is certainly a lot to like about Winks and the midfielder has convinced Pochettino to make him a part of the first team squad. The Argentine manager has shown that he won’t shy away from giving young players a chance and that is one of the reasons he is rated so highly at White Hart Lane.
