Manchester United continue to stutter and splutter this season and they are finding it difficult to build up the momentum necessary to produce a genuine title challenge. Each time Mourinho’s side look to be back in form (see their previous performance against Swansea) they seem to come unstuck in the following fixture. The lack of consistency appears to be equally as frustrating for the United manager as it if for the supporters in the stands.
The most significant issue facing United is their apparent inability to secure victory on home soil. The Red Devils have now dropped points against Arsenal, Stoke City, Burnley and Manchester City at Old Trafford so far this season, leaving them trailing league leaders Liverpool by eight points. Mourinho needs to discover a winning, consistent formula – and quickly – if his season is not going to dwindle away before the start of the New Year.
