Arsenal
Three things we learnt as Arsenal crashed out the Champions League against Bayern Munich
Robert Lewandowski reinstates his world-class
If it wasn’t already obvious that Lewandowski is one of the world’s best, his performances in the Champions League this season have secured the Poland International’s world-class status. In eight appearances, he has scored seven times and assisted once.
Lewandowski haunts Arsenal every time he faces them. He has played a part in seven Champions League goals against the Gunners. He has not managed more against any other side in the competition.
Having started the game with this record, it was only a matter of time before the Bayern hitman put the ball in the back of the net. In the 55th minute, Lewandowski slotted home a penalty after being brought down by Laurent Koscielny in the box. The Poland international was a constant threat and ultimately proved too much for the Gunners’ defence.
