Foxes do well to withstand pressure as Porto’s dismal record in England continues

Although Porto comfortably dominated the second-half, it was a case of the two-time European champions simply being unable to find a way through Leicester’s stubborn resistance despite having a total of eight attempts on goal compared to Leicester’s inferior three. By this time Slimani had already struck and the damage was done, but thr Foxes were made to withstand serious pressure in the latter stages of the game, and they dug in superbly.

Until a hectic final ten minutes, when Porto’s best chance came from a deflected Jesus Corona shot striking the woodwork, Leicester’s biggest worry came from a long-range snapshot from Hector Herrera which was well watched by returning Number One goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

The Portuguese pushed further and further forward near the end, and Leicester continued to scramble in clearing the ball from inside their own 18-yard box, but a flurry of late corners wasn’t enough for Porto to fashion a clear-cut chance to rescue a point, and their poor record on English soil continues and now stands at 17 matches without a win.
