Three things to look out for in Liverpool's clash with Manchester United
After doing the league double over Liverpool last season, United followed it up with a draw and defeat against the Reds in the Europa League as the Anfield outfit marched on to the final. Now, the Red Devils will be looking for revenge as they seek to make it five consecutive victories over Liverpool in the Premier League. The journey from Manchester to Merseyside has been kind in recent years, with the last defeat at Anfield coming in 2013 and even that was only the sixth time since the turn of the century.
The omens are looking positive for Mourinho, but his personal record against Klopp is less promising. With three defeats and only one victory from five clashes between the coaches, his 3-1 defeat to the Reds at Stamford Bridge in Klopp’s first major challenge since arriving at the club last October was only the latest chapter in Klopp’s success over the Portuguese manager.
With injuries likely to play a role for both sides in the clash, there will be changes and adaptations on show on Monday night. United know that they need to produce the goods to put an end to a run of questionable form whilst Liverpool will be hoping to maintain their superb form at the start of the season which has seen them fall to defeat only once, with even that Burnley result almost two months ago now. It’s likely to be a firey clash at Anfield, but it could also prove to be decisive.
