The Jamie Vardy story is taken a turn for the worse

It has been incredible to see a striker work hard and earn his opportunity at the top level. Jamie Vardy went from non-league to Premier League winner to Euro 2016 goal-scorer. It was a miraculous climb and a story that connected with the English public. However, he has struggled to have the same impact this season, with his goal tally standing at two in all competitions. Claudio Ranieri had finally had enough and dropped the striker from the first team, as Islam Slimani was selected to lead the line.

The Algerian has been a revelation since joining and has shown himself to be a regular source of goals. Unlike Vardy, the former Sporting Lisbon has consistently scored goals over the last few years and is a better option for Leicester at this time. Although Vardy was brought on at half-time, he struggled to have an impact. It is obvious that he is lacking in confidence and some have called for him to be dropped from the England squad. If Leicester are to turn their bad form around, they may need to leave Vardy out of the starting eleven for the foreseeable future.
