Three things that we learnt: Huddersfield 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Huddersfield need to create more chances

They have been excellent at the start of the season and managed to win many tight matches showing their impressive game-management. However, they have struggled to kill teams off and their lack of creativity was evident again on Sunday. They have failed to beat any side by more than one goal and they aren’t going to be able to compete for promotion unless their attack improves. Newcastle United, Norwich City and Brighton have all shown that they can put teams to the sword this season, and Huddersfield need to add that before they can be considered serious title challengers.

In this match, Huddersfield completely dominated possession with 66% of the ball, but they failed to create good chances. Their best opportunity came through Elias Kachunga’s deflected effort that required a smart stop from Keiren Westwood. There wasn’t much more for the home fans to get excited about and that will concern David Wagner. Huddersfield’s style has a lot to admire about it, but without real creativity, there are limitations to what can be achieved this season.
