Manchester United are slowly getting back to their best

They are sixth in the Premier League and have been for the majority of this season. However, they are now the holders of both domestic cup competitions and that is no easy feat. Jose Mourinho is a manager that craves success and it isn’t a surprise that he has won a trophy so quickly into his time as Manchester United boss. He has always paid a lot of respect to the EFL Cup and he will be delighted to have won it again at his new club. Despite their underwhelming performance, United managed to win the match and that shows that the winning mentality is returning to the club.

The next task for them is to secure a Champions League place for next season by any means possible. They still have a great chance to finish in the top four of the Premier League, but they will also be targeting success in the Europa League. It is another route into Europe’s premier competition and United are one of the best teams left in the tournament. They should enjoy this victory for the next 48 hours, but they need to get their minds back on what lies ahead of them over the coming months.
