King leads the line as the Cherries frustrate United

Although Bournemouth’s defence will understandably take most of the plaudits for their rear-guard performance in the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, forward Joshua King certainly played his part too.

Once a Manchester United player, King stepped up and took responsibilities from the spot – with huge amounts of pressure on his shoulders – and dispatched a superb penalty high into the corner.

Despite barely seeing the ball in the second 45 minutes due to Andrew Surman’s dismissal, King turned his hand to defensive work superbly, coming out victorious with 100% of the tackles he made as well as making eight clearances and winning four aerial duels to help his side survive corners.

The Cherries now sit five points clear of safety after their valuable point at Old Trafford, and with matches against Swansea, Middlesbrough and Leicester City to come, King will almost certainly play a huge role in ensuring that Bournemouth remain in the Premier League for another year.
