Klopp will give youth a chance
With young Ben Woodburn and Trent Alexander-Arnold both selected in the starting eleven of a crucial game for Liverpool’s top four hopes next season, it was a clear statement from Jurgen Klopp that he would not be afraid to support his youngsters.
Whilst both were withdrawn at half-time with the score at 1-0 to the home side, they didn’t do much wrong and won’t have harmed their chances of getting more chances in the future.
That said, what does it say about Liverpool’s squad depth? With the likes of Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson out injured, Klopp had little choice. His decision to leave Daniel Sturridge on the bench is far from a positive indication about his Anfield future either, though Klopp may argue that he was still not fully fit and ready to last 90 minutes.
