Three things learnt from Crystal Palace’s 3-0 demolition of Arsenal

Arsene Wenger has to go

The Frenchman’s future has been discussed at length during recent months and it is difficult to make a case for a new contract. There have been a number of setbacks since their first leg humiliation against Bayern Munich and they are now set to finish outside of the top four for the first time since Wenger took over at the club.

Although he had failed to challenge for major honours in recent seasons, he continued to deliver Champions League football. However, that looks unlikely this season and for that reason, it is the right time for him to leave his post as Arsenal manager.

If there was a real belief in the manager within the dressing room, there would be more evidence of it on the pitch. The players don’t seem interested in fighting for Wenger and they have now lost five of their last eight Premier League matches.

The game appears to have left the Frenchman behind and Arsenal need a new manager in the summer to lead the rebuilding. If they don’t act now and let Wenger remain in his post, the stagnation will continue.
