Rashford sends timely message to Mourinho
After Anthony Martial had been hitting the headlines for Manchester United after yet another impressive performance in midweek against Saint Etienne, Marcus Rashford sent his own message to manager Jose Mourinho with a useful display against Blackburn on Sunday.
Chosen in a lone striking role, the 19-year-old showed all of the reasons why United fans fell in love with him in the first place – his speed, his sudden acceleration, his ability to anticipate passes.
His awareness to exploit a huge gap in the Blackburn defence was mature, and his composure to round the goalkeeper and slot home under pressure was unbelievably cool.
The United teenager now has four goals in six FA Cup matches, including three in this season’s competition, and he’s really starting to take advantage of his time on the pitch; with consistent performances of late, it might not be long before he gets a nod for regular Premier League football.
