After being humiliated by Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge in October and with the Italian having rapidly become a huge fan’s favourite at his former club, it seemed that the stock of Jose Mourinho could have been on the way down with his defensive tactics seeing a huge number of home draws at Old Trafford.

Since that day, United have not lost in the Premier League and on Sunday, Mourinho produced the kind of tactical masterclass that he has become famous for. With Eden Hazard kept silent up-front and Kurt Zouma and David Luiz humiliated at the back, Mourinho ensured that every potential weakness was exploited.

Antonio Conte could do little but watch on helplessly from the sidelines as his team capitulated in Manchester. Whilst they remain in pole position for the Premier League title, Jose Mourinho staked his claim to remain the special one.
