Saido Berahino
Saido Berahino is a controversial possibility in Arsene Wenger’s hunt for a striker that can score for more than half a season. Young, English raised and proven against Premier League opposition, the West Brom striker could be a solution to the Arsenal bosses’ woes. Berahino may not have the best goal scoring record, hitting the back of the net just seven times in all competitions for the Baggies last season, but off the pitch controversy and Tony Pulis’ defensive set up certainly help to explain that figure. When he’s on his game, Berahino is dynamic and aggressive on the field, and finds the back of the net when given half a chance. His movement also creates space for players around him, which would allow the talents of Arsenal players like Mesut Özil and Alexis to shine through. Under the right coach, the England under-21 international could be developed into a fantastic player for Arsenal. Unfortunately, there would be several stumbling blocks in front of any potential move. West Brom refused to sell Berahino when Spurs offered over £20 million last summer, meaning further bids may have to exceed the player’s realistic value for a transfer to go through. However, if any manager can provide the direction Saido Berahino needs to become a top class player, it’s Arsene Wenger.
