Three strikers Arsenal should look to sign if Jamie Vardy stays at Leicester

Jamie Vardy will soon make his decision as to whether he’ll move to Arsenal. The 29-year-old England striker is believed to be further weighing up the pros and cons of a move to North London after Leicester offered him a new contract, reported to be in the region of £120,000 a week. The media speculate that it’s looking more and more likely that he’ll stay with the Foxes after their historic Premier League victory, leaving Arsene Wenger in pursuit of a striker for another successive transfer window. Should Vardy stay and further certify himself as a Leicester City legend, the Gunners may look to these centre forwards to give Arsenal the goals they need to push for the title next season.

Gonzalo Higuaín

Gonzalo Higuaín is coming off of the best season of his career. The Napoli number nine bagged 36 goals in 35 league games this season, nearly half of the clubs 80 goals in Serie A. The hard-working Argentina international is known for his hold up play as well as his prolific goal scoring ability. Arsenal fans may worry that Higuaín sounds similar to current target man Olivier Giroud, albeit with a more consistent eye for goal. Higuaín, unlike Giroud, possesses the speed to play a part in Arsenal’s devastating counter attacks. El Pipita, as he’s affectionately known by fans, also managed almost twice Giroud’s shots per game, more key passes and almost five times as many successful attacking dribbles per game last season, making him a far more appealing option to lead the line. Worryingly for Gunners fans though, Napoli announced that Higuaín has a release clause of nearly £80 million, and it seems unlikely that many clubs, especially Arsenal, will be willing to spend that much.
