Three signings West Brom should make on Deadline Day

Carvalho has been linked with Arsenal heavily in the past, but reports suggest West Brom are trying to pull off an ambitious £21 million move for the Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder. Carvalho was an important part of Portugal’s European Championship winning side, completed 89% of his passes and averaging five defensive actions per game.

West Brom stalwarts Claudio Yacob and Darren Fletcher have been fine performers in the defensive midfield area but are both in the latter stages of their career. Carvalho can even slot in and play at centre back if required. Sometimes signings are required to alleviate a shortage of numbers in an area of the squad, but sometimes an option becomes available who is an upgrade on presently existing options. At the age of 24, Carvalho also carries healthy sell-on value.
