Three signings to help Reading push for promotion

This season will not be one that sticks in the memory for very long among Reading fans. The campaign started off with a great deal of promise and a great run of form that saw the Royals sitting second in the Championship in mid-October. However, the season soon lost momentum and Reading found themselves back in a very similar situation to the previous year. A decent cup run was enough to provide some enjoyment but the league form was less than desirable.

Despite this, Brian McDermott now has a summer ahead of him to start to implement some signings of his own. With many players seemingly heading out the door as the season draws to a close, it will be a crucial summer for the Royals as they look to replace and attempt to improve on any departures.

The club need some stability after recent managerial turnovers around the end of the last two years and most importantly Brian McDermott will need the trust and financial backing of the current board in order to get some new names in. This will enable him to create a balanced platform for the promising young players from Reading’s superb academy.

Reading invested heavily in the loan market but still have a strong core of experienced players who could definitely help new signings mix in with the group and a manager who has won this league in the past. The side needs improvement in many areas and Reading definitely need to sign more than 3 players in the off-season but here are three that could make a big impact should they sign for the Berkshire outfit.

If they were to land any of these three players; they could go a long way to improving on their recent league performances which have been lacking in the eyes of many fans. Time will tell for Reading but the fans will certainly be hoping that they see players of this calibre signing on for the Royals over the course of the summer.
