3. Jose Angulo (Independiente del Valle)

An outside-of-the-box option, the Ecuadorian forward bagged six goals for his club to help them reach the final of South America’s premier club competition, the Copa Libertadores. His performances in the semi-final against Argentinian giants Boca Juniors, according to The Guardian, were outed by the player’s agent as having drawn interest from several clubs both in Europe and in Mexico.

The 21-year-old is yet to make a senior international appearance for his country, but his expected progress may be enough to secure the player a work permit to allow Hughes to bring him to the Potteries. The forward would provide an ideal option should the Potters miss out on bringing Saido Berahino to the Bet365 Stadium, but at such a young age, any potential approach may not rest on the arrival or non-arrival of Berahino and Hughes may well cash-in on the Ecuadorian as an asset for the future.

However, one of the player’s representatives in Gustavo Mascardi; who is also the agent of Juventus forward Paulo Dybala, has reportedly touted interest from Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Palermo. As a result, Stoke would not be short of competition for the player, but may provide an ideal platform for the player to rack minutes of first team football under his belt and test himself in the Premier League.
