2. Nacer Chadli (Tottenham Hotspur)
Despite being a solid goal-scorer since arriving at White Hart Lane from FC Twente back in 2013, hitting 25 in 119 appearances, the 26-year old Belgian has fallen down the pecking order under Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs, only starting ten league games in 2015/16.
Behind the likes of Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela, Son Heung-Min and Dele Alli in North London, Chadli may find his head turned by the prospect of first team football elsewhere and the Potters may do well in bringing in the winger.
With Marko Arnautovic entering the final year of his contract having stalled on agreeing a new deal for some time, Chadli’s goal-scoring record would make him an ideal replacement on the left side of midfield or even in amongst Hughes’ front three should Austrian international Arnautovic opt to leave.
Spurs do however value the Belgian at £15 million, with Swansea also interested in an acquisition. So, it would be a rather expensive buy for the Potters having already outbid the Swans in their pursuit of Joe Allen, despite Chadli’s lack of football last season. Although, his reliability when called upon and his quality in Spurs colours over his three seasons in North London all point towards the player being more than capable of making the desired impact in the Potteries were he to be signed.
He would also provide extra competition for new signing Ramadan Sobhi, Ibrahim Afellay and Spanish forward Joselu on the left flank.
