Three signings Stoke City could make on deadline day

Bruno Martins-Indi (FC Porto)

With Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Everton meaning the Potters have now gone 12 consecutive games without a clean sheet in the Premier League, Mark Hughes has been forced to turn his attention to his defence to prevent his side from leaking goals as well as solving his team’s problems in scoring them. To this end, the Potters may turn to a side that they have already done business with in 2016, Portuguese club FC Porto, from whom they signed midfielder Giannelli Imbula. The target this time is Dutch international defender Bruno Martins-Indi, with the Potters thought to be keen on a potential loan move which would allow the hapless Philipp Wollscheid to depart for Wolfsburg.

Porto’s enquiry to Manchester City over their former player Eliaquim Mangala may mean the club are willing to part ways with the Dutchman, and a second raid by Hughes on the Estadio do Dragao may yet take place before the transfer window slams shut.
