This would be an incredible coup and the Serbian was linked with the club on Tuesday by Goal.com. It would excite fans on Tyneside and send shockwaves around the Championship. He would be a huge threat in the Championship and would be able to score his fair share of goals. Newcastle need as many goal-scorers as possible and Yoan Gouffran doesn’t look like he will score many this season. Although he has struggled to adjust to the physicality of England, a season in the Championship would help him improve in that area of his game.

It looks unlikely, but if Newcastle sell Sissoko, they will have the money to buy Markovic permanently. Despite the risks, a move for Markovic would be smart as Newcastle need to make sure they have a squad that is good enough for the Premeir League if they do get promoted as expected. Markovic has huge potential and Newcastle could benefit in the long term if they take a punt on him today.
