DeAndre Yedlin

Since Spurs signed the rapid right-back from Seattle Sounders after the World Cup in 2014 in which he shone, Yedlin has never really been given a look-in at White Hart Lane. However, he has enjoyed a successful loan spell at Sunderland and having cemented his place in the side during the second half of the season, looks as though he could have played a key role in helping to keep The Black Cats in the Premier League.

DeAndre Yedlin fits the mould of recent Leicester City signings because he would probably not be too expensive, and is a raw talent that can be honed into a great player. The USA international exhibits terrific youthful exuberance and seems keen to learn and improve, traits which Claudio Ranieri clearly values in his players.

As solid as Danny Simpson has been for the Premier League champions, Leicester City have now progressed to the next level and need something more from their full-backs other than just a stoic defensive attitude. Yedlin is a real force in the opponent’s defensive third and has shown signs that he can form part of a solid back four too. The potential combination between him and Riyad Mahrez on Leicester’s right hand side is a terrifying one.

Kieran Trippier and Kyle Walker have had impressive seasons for Yedlin’s parent club Spurs, and Mauricio Pochettino has shown a great deal of faith in both of them. At such a young age, it is unlikely that DeAndre Yedlin would be granted the opportunity to displace both of them from the thoughts of the Argentine manager, and so his personal development would suffer. Moving to Leicester City might reflect the transfer of another young star in Demarai Gray – a fine piece of business for all parties involved.
