Pardew’s eyes seem to be set firmly on midfield targets, and reports this morning suggest that Palace are edging closer to the £7.6 million signing of Genoa midfielder Tomas Rincon. Rincon can also play at right-back, so could serve as back up to first choice right-back Joel Ward. The 28-year-old is Venezuela’s captain and would bring experience and versatility to Palace’s ranks. Rincon has spent two seasons in Serie A, following a lengthy spell in the Bundesliga with Hamburg. Many fans were surprised at the sale of Jedinak who brought steel and defensive assurance in front of the back four. Pardew will hope that Rincon can add some of the same qualities.
