Cedric Soares – Southampton

If Tottenham wanted to sign a right-back from the Premier League, then Cedric Soares could the best option available to them. The 25-year-old is well thought of across Europe after helping Portugal to their Euro 2016 triumph last summer.

He has been linked to both Barcelona, by Spanish outlet Sport, and Juventus, by the Mirror, this summer, which underlines the quality that he possesses. Southampton won’t want to sell him, but he has the ability to play at a higher level and Spurs could have the pulling power to do a deal if they were to make a move.

Last season, he contributed three assists and created 1.43 chances per ninety minutes. His crossing is superb and he is excellent at making the right decision when is in the final third with the ball. Although he can be targeted aerially as he only wins 31.58% of his duels, he is an intelligent reader of the game.

This is shown by his 3.47 ball recoveries every ninety minutes. When the attacker makes a slight error and loses control of the ball, the 25-year-old is aggressive in his style and often wins it back. He has already impressed in the Premier League and has the potential to take the next step. This could be a smart, low-risk move for Tottenham.
