Tottenham are reportedly edging closer to securing a deal to bring 21-year-old Brazilian starlet Malcom to North London, according to the Mirror.
If correct, signing Malcom would be a real coup for Mauricio Pochettino’s side with the young Brazilian being one of the most sought-after talents in Europe.
Malcom made 35 appearances for Ligue 1 side Bordeaux this season, scoring 12 and assisting seven and has made it clear that he wants to leave France this summer in search of a new challenge.
Here are three reasons why Malcom is exactly what Spurs need.
He has his best years still ahead of him
At 21 years of age, Malcom still has his best years ahead of him and under the coaching of the enigmatic Mauricio Pochettino, the youngster could undoubtedly flourish. If Spurs can pull off a deal and beat off the stiff competition for his signature they will have Malcom in their ranks during the peak of his career; an exciting prospect.
Adds an extra dimension to the Spurs front line
Malcom can play anywhere along the front line, which is an extremely sought after quality in the modern game. Whether Pochettino would choose to play the youngster on the right or left wing remains to be seen, however, the 21-year-old would have no problem in doing either.
Brazilians past and present have flourished in the Premier League
You don’t have to look far and wide to find Brazilian’s who have settled into life in the Premier League with ease. Chelsea’s Willian and Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino are two compatriots of Malcom whose flare and abundance of talent have matched perfectly with the pace and physicality of the English top flight.
If Spurs are to finalise are a move for the 21-year-old winger, they’ll be encouraged by how quickly these players settled into life in England.
