Arsenal are eyeing a shock move for Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman, with new Gunners boss Unai Emery desperate to bring some pace into his side, according to the The Guardian.
Signing the £44million-rated winger would be a massive coup for Arsenal and Emery, and there is undoubtedly a need for an extra winger in his setup with Alex Iwobi and Reiss Nelson currently being his only options out wide.
Emery has already made five signings since taking over the reigns at the Emirates Stadium. However, Coman would certainly be the marquee signing the former Sevilla and PSG boss has been desperate to make happen.
The 22-year-old French international only joined German giants Bayern Munich last summer. However, due to injuries and the high level of competition in his position, the pacey winger was very inactive last season, which cost him a place in the French World Cup winning squad.
Here are three reasons why Arsenal should do everything they can to sign Coman…
At 22 years of age, Coman has a trophy cabinet any veteran of the beautiful game would envy: 3 Bundesliga titles, 1 German cup, 2 Serie A titles, 1 Italian cup, 2 Ligue 1 titles and a French cup – a truly remarkable amount of trophies for a player of his age and something which would only be a positive for the Gunners.
Out of favour in Munich
There may be no better time for Arsenal to pounce and secure the signature of the talented youngster. Coman is currently out of favour at his current club Bayern Munich, with Frank Ribery, Arjen Robben and Douglas Costa getting the nod to start over him last season and first team football is something Emery could offer the 22-year-old.
The return of Munich loanee Serge Gnabry next season will only add to the competition Coman will face, and now the winger positions at Arsenal entirely up for grabs, a player of Coman’s talent would be one of the first names on Emery’s team sheet week in, week out.
“Maybe we can bring in one if there’s a very good possibility for them to help us.”
He still has his best years still ahead of him
Despite already playing for three of the biggest clubs in Europe; Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, Coman is still very young and in the developing stage of his career.
It’s rare you’ll find a player with such a vast amount of experience at such a young age and, if Arsenal were to sign the winger, they would be in line to be treated to his peak years.
Coman has the potential to be one of the world’s best and given the game time he’d in no doubt receive at Arsenal; he could flourish into something extraordinary.
