Antoine Griezmann – Atletico Madrid
One of those transfer rumours that seems to go on forever, Antoine Griezmann has been linked with a move to England, and in particular to Old Trafford, for what feels like an eternity.
The Frenchman has been happily plying his trade at Atletico Madrid, playing a vital role in their rise into La Liga winners and Champions League finalists. He has also performed strongly at international level, finishing Euro 2016 as top scorer, whilst he lost yet another final.
This season in Spain, Griezmann has 16 goals and seven assists from 31 appearances, giving him a similar output as Ibrahimovic. The 26-year-old has excelled at leading the line for a side who are built on a strong defence and are less prolific than their main rivals. Such experience sets the Frenchman up as an ideal player for a Mourinho team, and there are clear similarities with how United currently set up.
An extra bonus is that the talented striker has played on both wings, and could be rotated around within Jose’s preferred 4-3-3, something which he has done with both Rashford and Martial but was unable to do with Ibrahimovic. The player’s agent has expressed that United have shown the most “concrete interest” in signing his man, according to French media outlet Telefoot.
