Three possible solutions to Liverpool’s left-back conundrum

Jordan Amavi

This one definitely seems to be one straight out of the transfer committee’s wishlist. On paper, a player relegated in a team with one of the Premier League’s worst ever records and having missed the last eight months with a cruciate ligament injury may not be the most tempt in option, but Jordan Amavi was highly rated before his £7.7 million arrival at Villa Park last summer.

Pacey, and capable of playing in a more attacking role, Amavi has potential and would undoubtedly provide competition for Moreno. The risk would be that Amavi’s faults are very similar to Moreno’s, and for that reason the Liverpool Echo suggest that he may be a back up choice if the Reds are unable to convince Leicester to dispense with top target Ben Chilwell.

A move for any star who has been out for so long with a serious injury is always a risk, but Liverpool will be buoyed by the fact that they may be able to snap up the French under 21 international on the cheap as Aston Villa seek to cut their wage budget following relegation.
