Jonas Hector, of FC Koln, has attracted plenty of headlines given reported interest on Merseyside and also from Tottenham, according to the Express.

Reports suggest that the left back would be available for £25 million, but that remains a big price tag for both Liverpool and Tottenham with two establish players already in that position. On paper, Hector would be an upgrade on Moreno, and is a player who Jurgen Klopp knows plenty about having faced him and monitored his progress when at Dortmund.

A good taker of set pieces too, Hector would fit the profile if the Reds were looking for a first team player for the position, but it seems that the club want a player for the future who can also compete now. At 26, that may not be Hector, who will want to establish himself at one of Europe’s top clubs after an impressive Euros this summer.
