Redmond’s brace against Watford came at just the right time for him, as he reminded his former England under-21 manager about his talents. Southgate has worked with the Southampton man before and, like he has with James Ward-Prowse, has always relied on the 23-year-old at youth level.

Having played under-21s for numerous years, Redmond has finally been given a chance to perform on the big stage and will be hoping to seize his chance.

The winger, who also has played as a striker this season, has five goals to his name and has only missed one Premier League game since his move from Norwich City.
