Having secured a top four finish, Jurgen Klopp will be looking to refine his squad ready for what will be a busy, and he will hope, successful season for the Reds. This will begin by selling the players he sees as surplus to requirements, and despite a large squad overhaul last summer, there are still several who will be facing the door come the summer.

Alberto Moreno

The Spaniard’s future at the club has long looked uncertain.

After arriving in the summer of 2014 for £12 million, he failed to deliver for Brendan Rogers looking very suspect in defence and ineffective in attack.

Since Jurgen Klopp arrived at Merseyside it has been much of the same. The German even made the decision to move midfielder James Milner to left-back in what looks like the final nail in the coffin for Alberto Moreno and his Liverpool career.

The Reds will be hoping to get their money back on the 24-year-old, with a return to Spain looking the most likely destination.

Lucas Leiva

Currently Liverpool’s longest-serving player at the club, having been there for ten years, the Brazilian will be considering his future at the club this summer. Key injuries, most notably to Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana, saw Lucas play a key role in midfield towards the end of the season, but at 30 years of age there have been questions over his fitness and ability.

With Liverpool looking to strengthen in the midfield areas, an exit seems increasingly more likely for the Brazilian, although with just one more year on his contract he may opt to see it out. Jurgen Klopp will undoubtedly see value in the player’s passion and experience, and he may be an important player in and around the squad come next season.

Daniel Sturridge

A man who on his day looks almost unstoppable, but a player hampered by injuries. Whether Daniel Sturridge stays at Liverpool this summer remains to be seen. It is clear for everyone to see the talent the Englishman possesses but unfortunately, he just does not play enough.

Klopp may look to cash in on the 27-year-old who has many admirers, including Premier League sides. Of course, the German boss risks losing a prolific striker who is a fantastic option for any manager to have. He scored some important goals for the Reds towards the end of the season and the Kop, who are a big admirer of the ‘Studge’ will be sad to see him leave.
