It was a case of so near yet so far again for Tottenham Hotspur this season as, after a monumental pursuit of Chelsea all season, Mauricio Pochettino’s men fell narrowly short at the final hurdle.

It’s not often that a team can go a full campaign unbeaten at home – giving White Hart Lane as we know if the perfect send off – and still miss out on glory, but the Blues proved to be too good.

Add to this the despair of losing out to arch-rivals Chelsea once again in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley last month and it truly has turned into a season of what could have been in North London.

Despite having the Premier League’s most miserly defence (26), being the highest scorers (86) and having the Golden Boot winner in their ranks in Harry Kane, there’s still work to do to win silverware.
