Robbie Keane
It has been five years since Robbie Keane left Tottenham Hotspur for LA Galaxy. His prolific form in the MLS has seen him score 77 goals in 122 games, and this form has continued to translate onto the international stage.
The 35-year-old registered five goals and two assists and will captain the Republic of Ireland in France this summer.
While the talisman is certainly not young, he will be expected to play a major part in rallying the squad and keeping their confidence high throughout the tournament.
Keane has vast experience both playing and scoring in international matches and he is as important to the Republic as Wayne Rooney is to England.
It would be a strange choice not to take someone who is a natural leader and could certainly form a strong partnership with Shane Long who could use his pace to play off him.
