Seven years after a handball by Thierry Henry prevented the Republic of Ireland from going to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Martin O’Neill’s side are off to France for Euro 2016. The boys in Green find themselves in group C, which many would consider ‘group of death’ with the likes of Italy, Belgium and Sweden their company.
However, it is unfair to assume that they cannot proceed further than the group stages if their qualifiers are anything to go by, having claimed the scalp of the world champions, Germany.
