Three players Manchester United should sign on deadline day
Manchester United have started the season in great form. There isn’t a huge need for further additions, but Jose Mourinho is a manager who is always keen to bring in more quality. They had wanted to sign another attacking player to add competition for places. Although Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have started the season in good form, a new left winger could be targeted in this window. Here are three players they should sign on deadline day:
If Manchester United are to make a move on deadline day, it would have to be for a player that would improve their current starting eleven. Gareth Bale has been linked throughout the summer and there have been suggestions in recent days that a deal could be done before the deadline. Diario Gol report that there is an offer of €105 million on the table for the Welshman.
The accuracy of the report is questionable, but it will be enough to get United fans excited about what could be a huge transfer. Bale is a world class player and he would offer an instant improvement to the current players at the club. He has won three Champions League titles and can add a big goal threat to the United attack. This one can be filed under unlikely, but it would be a great deal for Mourinho.
The Englishman hasn’t been mentioned as a possible Manchester United target, but he is available and Mourinho could be tempted into making a move. The United manager loves to take players from rival clubs and would see Oxlade-Chamberlain as a utility man that would provide cover across the pitch.
Liverpool and Chelsea are the two in the lead when it comes to securing the midfielder’s signature, but he would surely be tempted by a move to Old Trafford. He can play on either wing and in central midfield, which makes him a useful player to have in the squad. United need another winger and might see Oxlade-Chamberlain as a gamble worth taking on the final day, especially if he remains in play until the final hours.
The situation at Arsenal has changed in recent days and it looks like a number of important first-team players will leave before the deadline. Manchester United will be aware of the situation and will be looking to see if they can benefit from the crisis. The Independent report that Alexis Sanchez has been offered to Jose Mourinho and there is interest in bringing him to Old Trafford.
It remains more likely that he joins Manchester City, but this is an interesting line regarding United. There have been a lot of crazy twists and turns on deadline days in the past. This would be a remarkable one and Mourinho would be keen to get one over on two long-term rivals in Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola. This would be a great signing for United and one they should throw everything at to complete.
