Kasper Schmeichel
Despite Liverpool reportedly being the front-runners in the race to sign Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel in January, City could go in for a surprise move for their former ‘keeper if Claudio Bravo continues to struggle in England.
It’s been no secret that Bravo hasn’t adapted to Manchester City life well, and he’s been heavily criticised for mistakes since his arrival in Manchester as replacement for the Torino-bound Joe Hart.
Bravo is allegedly struggling to get to grips with the English language and lifestyle, and is angling for a move back to previous club Barcelona; and with second goalkeeper Willy Caballero almost out of contract, Guardiola may need to make a move for Leicester’s Schmeichel.
Schmeichel previously trained in the City Academy for three years between 2002 to 2005, before making eight appearances with the senior team.
If needed, he would provide a solid presence at the back and tons of Premier League experience, something which he has over the inexperienced Bravo.
