Three players Liverpool should target to challenge for the title feat. Aston Villa star

Jordan Amavi

It is obvious that Liverpool need a left-back in January. James Milner is doing a good job standing in, but he isn’t a natural and leaves the side unbalanced, potentially an area which could be exposed by the best opposition. As the season progresses, sides will target him and that will prove to be a problem position for the Reds.

Although Alberto Moreno is still at the club, the Spaniard makes too many errors and it speaks volumes that his manager would rather select a midfielder in his position.

A possible solution to their problems is Jordan Amavi, currently plying his trade with Aston Villa in the Championship. The Frenchman was highly-rated when he arrived at Villa Park, but injuries ruined his first season in England. His side was relegated and although there was interest in him, clubs were reluctant to spend big on Amavi until he proved his fitness. Before his injury, he impressed in the Premier League and contributed two assists from left-back.

Amavi is an attack-minded full-back who would thrive in the system deployed by Klopp at Liverpool. He is very good at carrying the ball and has an excellent eye for a pass in the final third. Although his strengths lie in the attacking half, he is a reliable defender and hasn’t struggled to adapt to the more physical style since moving to England. It would be a low risk move from Liverpool as Amavi would not cost a huge amount and he has the potential to develop into a French international.
